The X-Com Files version 3.4 is out!
Added 2024-08-01 13:11:15 +0000 UTCI am happy to announce that version 3.4 is finally out.
Apart from the usual stuff - new missions, UFOs, units, tweaks and fixes - it has one notable addition, which is a new system for hiring experienced agents. This system is an addition, not a change, so everything still works the same way, except you can also research an extra source of good(ish) people, as long as your monthly score is high enough. This is a big deal for me, because for years I've struggled with the problem of replacing veterans with rookies; one unfortunate squad wipe could lead to a major problem with continuing the campaign. I hope that with this new feature, the issue has been alleviated at least.
There are also two new missions (one with Hybrids, one with Apocalypse people), tiered MiB retaliations, a new MiB vessel, a new AI chassis, a shielded version of the Assault Suit, tech tree adjustments and other tweaks. Have fun!

I can't believe I missed this comment. Sorry! Anyway, first of all: thank you. And secondly, I might add some missions with recruitment tokens in the future, but balancing it is very hard; XCF has a more open structure than nuCom. But I'll keep it in mind.

2024-11-14 16:51:45 +0000 UTCSir you are making new versions faster than I can finish a playthrough! Bravo. Regarding hiring experienced troops - I'd suggest taking a cue from the newer XComs, where you complete say a rescue mission to earn a soldier. You could do many variations of this, e.g. in the "Military Shot Down UFO" mission, if you were to revive a bleeding out friendly AI soldier, you could potentially recruit him afterwards as a higher tier unit. Or wen you do some "rescue magma lab" type of mission, they could reward you with some cool cyber augmented unit.
