The X-Com Files version 2.2 is out!
Added 2022-01-12 17:14:45 +0000 UTCThis is probably the biggest update I have ever released. It is hard to summarize such a monster, but in short:
- completely overhauled how missions are generated, giving enemy factions greater liberty at where on the globe they operate (but still constraining some of them to specific regions);
- reworked some missions to use UFOs instead of appearing out of nowhere;
- new missions, units, weapons, etc.;
- expanded lore and narrative arcs (including interaction with your staff members);
- overhauled and expanded agent trainings and commendations;
- assorted improvements in graphics, terrain generation, weapon balance etc.;
- various bugfixes and tweaks.
I am really proud of this release. While it's still not the end product as I envisage it, it really brings us closer to the final version, as it deals with various obsolete elements and sets a proper stage for a proper late game. I feel that from now on it will be easier to add even more fun and meaningful stuff.
Also I would like to thank for the X-Com Files community on Discord for the continuous support (not only moral, but also very much technical). Also to Meridian, since without his work on the new OXCE 7.4 some of the important changes would not be possible.
