my entire recording is gone.
Added 2022-10-15 15:10:45 +0000 UTCThe other day I recorded the entirety of part two and I thought I did really well, only to get on now to edit the audio and it’s completely gone. I can’t record it now because my house is full and noisy, and I have to go away in a few days. This is so stressful I don’t know what to do I’m so heartbroken

Hey Pillow, I've just been scrolling through YouTube and I've just saw the issue you are facing. It's really unfortunate that your audio file was deleted But luckily I am studying for this type of stuff, so I am here to give you an helping hand =================================== Let's look at our options The first thing we'll be doing is to check your 'Recycling Bin' incase its just decided to just slip inside there This can happened through the user's action of inputting the "delete" function which is not actually deleted but simply moved to the recycling bin. Only when you 'delete permanently' is when the data is overridden with flat 0's or 1's But what if it's an corrupted file? That's okay! We have options, although we are going to get quite nerdy. Most recording software will have a 'draft' (If recording is unfinished) or an 'recovered' option (Don't be surprised if they're partially corrupted), please check the file if they are supported within your software, you could even go deeper into the program file and check the folders for any files that could potentially be the recording file. The file format should be your typical (.mp3, .avi, etc) or a unique file type that is readable for the software (If this is the case, please google the file to double check) Now if your file is lost/corrupted/wiped etc - that is lost in the disk drive. We do need to use a tool - Windows File Recovery | https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9N26S50LN705 This software can actually be located in the Microsoft Store and is made by Microsoft themselves. This program does look quite intimidating at first but I will walk you through it so you don't get lost. Firstly, open the program in Administrator Mode so it has access to your disk drive. (This program is going to ask for your permission anyways). If this is successful, a terminal should pop up) Now here comes the tricky bit, In the command prompt, enter the command in the following format: `winfr source-drive: destination-drive: [/mode] [/switches] Your source drive is the disk drive is going to recover and the destination drive is where it is going to be delievered (Make sure you have a recovery folder ready), don't forget the backslashes (\) Type in: `winfr C: D: /regular /n \Users\audacity\whereveritscalled` OR if you want to recover a specific file like a .mp3 or .avi file `winfr C: E: /regular /n *.mp3 /n *.avi ' (/n : Filter search , /regular (Standard recovery option for non-corrupted NTFS drives) Still following? After you've done that, it should ask for confirmation to continue, press 'Y' to confirm to start the recover operation. Depending on the size of your source drive, this may take a while. To stop the recovery process, press Ctrl + C. If that doesn't work, we can use TestDisk but give that a shot and let me know how that goes. I'm pretty sure I covered all the essential ones, including the ones you probably know. I hope this helps you, if you need help (especially the last section, i kinda didn't explained it clearly ._.) let me know Goodluck Miss. Pillow, Really looking forward to your next video~ - Yours truly, Norikov (I'm also sorry if my grammar and punctuation is a bit off, I initially wrote this on discord. This is also my first time using patreon >.>)
