I compare it to the Askar FRA300 and the Askar 80PHQ to see how well it holds up on both ends of it's focal length range against astrographs from the same company. This one ended up just over 20 minutes so I did add the Patreon credits, but they come after the Brilliant sponsored ad read which is also at the end. 2023-05-19 15:52:10 +0000 UTCI'm just starting DSO imaging after starting with planetary for a year and a half. In January, after lots of research, I chose a Redcat 71 for my first refractor. But I quickly found that mis-collimation was giving me aberrant stars, so I had to send it in and am still waiting on word. Too bad I didn't wait for a few months for Askar V to appear. Multiple FOV options in one OTA at this price point looks pretty appealing.

2023-05-19 08:01:15 +0000 UTCLooking forward to trying the 588. Unfortunately, if I use it at the same time as the 553, I’ll need another 42-48 mm adapter AND an IR cut filter. Those are both ordered and should be here Wednesday. To make it complete, I’d need a GoTo mount, Guide scope and camera (prob another ASI120mm). Maybe I’ll play and wait on the rest.

2023-05-07 21:39:52 +0000 UTCAgreed, Jack. I just don't enjoy having a raft of piece-parts for a single scope. May be why I stay away from the Borg telescope line. Jack, I'm also using the ASI585MC. Mine's coupled to a RedCat 51. It's my Learner Rig to see how much I enjoy EAA before fully committing to AP.

Now pairing an At60ed with an asi585mc and a asi air mini (presently with a Sw SA2i) AND an AT115EDT with an ASI 533mc pro/ asi air plus/ EAF/ EQ6R-pro. Once I get my 2nd GoTo mount, I am set. This make keep me away from mono for a little while. Seriously, I prefer dual,individual setups to a maxi-customizable one.
