NEAF Meet-up, April 15th, 3PM
Added 2023-04-04 17:56:10 +0000 UTCI'll be attending NEAIC and NEAF this year, and thought it would be fun to do an informal meetup!
To get a sense for how many people will attend the meet-up, please add your name/email here if you plan on going: https://forms.gle/jKk7P3353bGTjeEH9
Details
When: Saturday, April 15, 3pm
Where: The far side of the Solar Observing field (away from the main NEAF building). If it's raining, we will meet at the entrance of Celestron Theater.
What: Informal meet-up - sort of like our Sunday Chats, but in person
If you add your name/email to the form above, I'll send out a reminder to everyone signed up the day before.
Starting tomorrow (April 5), I will be taking a week-long trip with my family, and then going to NEAIC/NEAF right after. This means from April 5-16 I will be slower than normal to reply to messages and email. But please feel free to send them, and I will reply when I'm able.
Cheers, Nico

I'd love to stop by and say hello, I'll be spending most of my time working over at the kids area, so if anyone with kids, consider that a plug to stop by... :-)

2023-04-07 20:03:16 +0000 UTCThey are nice, but it's full moon so I'm not doing anything serious astro-wise. Enjoying the sun and nice weather.

2023-04-07 17:18:22 +0000 UTCYes, both NEAIC and AIC (West Coast astrophotography conference) are expensive tickets. I've asked the organizers about offering 1-day or other options and they claimed it wasn't feasible due to the small size of these conferences. Most East coast astrophotographers I know will go to NEAIC once every 3-4 years, but NEAF every year. NEAF is cheaper because it's huge and so I think they take in a lot of money from exhibitors. Looking forward to meeting you in-person.

2023-04-07 17:04:46 +0000 UTCI bought my tickets through Rockland Astronomy Club, and for both NEAIC and NEAF (all four days), it was $350! And that's without the nighttime add-on courses. I'm excited about going, but I felt that was a little steep.

2023-04-04 19:36:13 +0000 UTCYes, NEAF is $38 for a one-day pass which includes all talks that day, the showroom, and the solar star party. You can buy tickets on their website or at the door. There is ample free parking right out front.
