Nebula Photos Sunday Chat #12

Hi Nico; I'm a new supporter so I'm just catching up with the older Zooms and just watched this. One thing that some people might find useful for their Timelapses, especially if there are externalities outside our control (like you're shooting near a road with occasional cars coming into frame, or if you're shooting a dawn/dusk timelapse with changing exposures) is a program called LRTimelapse. It's not free (nor is it cheap), but it is amazingly powerful, and I've become a quick convert after just a few uses.

Hi Stu, if you use a tracking mount, you will get a different kind of timelapse, one in which the sky stays stationary, but you can see the rotation of the earth. I've made an example of this with a fisheye lens here: https://vimeo.com/209765419 I do seem to remember one of the tracking mounts (maybe the star adventurer mini?) offered an 'astro timelapse' feature where it would re-wind just the right amount after each shot so that you could get a more traditional time-lapse, but with the added benefit of longer, tracked exposures.

Hi Nico,Sorry I could not make the chat.I really wanted to introduce myself to the group but sadly every time I am at work.I REALLY enjoyed this one just a couple of things.Yes M8 is easily visible in the SH in fact for me here its right overhead. So I will be able to send over some data. Also thanks so much for the tutorial I have been looking for this and you explained it really well. One question though can you use a tracking mount for more exposure what do you think will be the longest exposure you could use before it becoms an issue.I could easily do 1min but I would think this would be too long. Cheers
