Multi-night with Deep Sky Stacker - Exclusive Video + PDF

This video is a patreon-exclusive for hitting 500 patrons! The first one (when I hit 100 patrons) can be found here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/48506949

I do plan to make some follow-up parts on multi-night pre-processing with other software: PixInsight, AstroPixelProcessor, and Siril.

Sample data for this video is here if you'd like to follow along with my files : https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/12C-EePGrUwzbG2xjLGVHw6ZpUB1a9QUz?usp=sharing

I'm also attaching a step-by-step, one-page PDF summary of the instructions in the video. This summary is the main points, but leaves out some of the nuances explored in the video.

Lastly, I am trying out a new beta feature of Patreon which is native video. If there are any major issues with this, please report them, and I can instead make this an unlisted video on YouTube which is how I did Patreon-exclusive stuff before.

Clear skies, Nico

I learn something new all the time with this hobby...and I had no idea about choosing the reference frame...now I need to go back and re-stack some images and see if that makes them better. Nico...you are awesome and well worth the $7 a month! Thank you

AstroIvan

That's great. Now what if 6 months later you have 2 more nights?

Kevin Jack Birchfield

I found this very helpful, clear and concise. Thank you Nico.

I know you and others have said that darks & flats should be taken for each night but I've noticed the temperature reported in the exif data varies during one night as the camera gets warmer. Hence, being somewhat Scotch, I tend to reuse the calibration frames, which means I use the master darks, etc.
