Nebula Photos Sunday Chat #9 - Jan. 2nd, 2022, 19:00 UTC

Nebula Photos Sunday Chat #9 will take place this Sunday, January 2nd, 2022 at 19:00 UTC (7pm UK, 2pm EST, 11am PST), and run for about an hour. It will be recorded, and the recording will be posted here on Patreon with a day or two after the chat. Here is the Zoom Link for joining on Sunday:

Looks like the Orion Constellation will win for the Monthly Imaging Challenge object in January, so I will do a run-down of deep sky objects in Orion and talk about how difficult they are and what approach one should take for imaging each one. We can also discuss the M78 group project if anyone has any updates or questions.

Details on both the monthly challenges and new group imaging project are available for patrons only on the Nebula Photos Discord Server. If you are a patron, and haven't joined the Nebula Photos Discord Server, please see instructions below for how to join and get access to the Patreon-exclusive channels.

1. Visit https://discord.com/ to download the software and create an account. I'd suggest using the same email you use to sign in to Patreon, as that seems to help avoid problems.

2. Join the Nebula Photos Discord Server by clicking this link and then clicking 'accept invite': https://discord.gg/nebulaphotos

3. Link your Discord account to your Patreon account by following these instructions: https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/articles/212052266-Get-my-Discord-role

After that, you will see all of the Patreon channels as well as the monthly challenges and group projects listed on the left side (scroll down). Simply click around and type in the message prompt at the bottom to join in on the discussions! Hope to see you there!

Hi Helen, no, you don't need Discord to join the chat on Zoom, but we will be discussing some things (monthly challenge object, group imaging project) that are organized over on Discord, so I do suggest downloading it and getting set up there when you have some time. Hope to see you tomorrow. Cheers, Nico

Hi Helen, I believe there is a web based version of discord, but its easier to download the app I find. Outside of that, nothing special.
