Nebula Photos Sunday Chat #5, 8/29/21, 19:00 UTC

Nebula Photos Sunday Chat #5 will be this coming Sunday (8/29/21) at 19:00 UTC. This one will be open to all Patreon Tiers. I will talk about a few things I'm up to. Also, if anyone wants me to process one of their photos live, let me know. We will also have the normal Q&A / open chat. Going forward, I will be recording the whole Zoom session. By attending you are opting-in to have your likeness and voice recorded and for the video recording to be posted to Patreon. If you want to 'opt out' of being recorded, but still attend, you need to let me know ahead of time so we can work that out. Looking forward to it

Thanks Jason. I'll be sharing my PixInsight narrowband workflow using your data at the meeting

Cool. Here is the link to a Google Drive folder. I went back and found an additional data set of the Elephants Trunk that I took using my Astrotech 115 back in June. Thought I throw that in there since its a zoomed in section of the Elephants Trunk. I had noticed my data for the Sharpstar61 had issues with Sulphur and Oxygen after a Meridian flip and a section was cut off. I don't expect both to be process but wanted to provided a different option in case on did not work out :) I placed a text file in the directory detailing the equipment, RA/DEC for the DSO, imaging details and my Bortle Scale. Just let me know if you have any issues with obtaining the data. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1HAB_ZwBDE8oIibhSQCoOI8wpoaZHlJ81?usp=sharing

Yep that would well. Thanks

Great! Would it be best to send you a google drive link with the files? Also, I don't mind sharing the .xisf images out as a Google Drive link so that others can follow along and use the same data. Total size is ~625MB for Ha, Oxygen and Sulphur.

I'd be more interested in #1. Lots of ways to add stars back in with Pixelmath I could show, shouldn't have to darken the photo

Hi Nico! If we wanted to submit an image for processing what would be the requirements for the data set so that it is easy for you? I have two possible targets. 1. IC 1396 The Elephants Trunk shot with a Sharpstar 61edPhii and 1600mm with 36mm HSO filters. I believe the Elephant's Trunk to not have enough data to really bring it out (300s : 36 Ha, 36 O, 25 S). I'm using PixInsight for the processing and without stars it looks great, but when the stars are added back in using Pixel Math the image darkens quite a bit. HFRs for this was about 3.3 2. My first attempt at a mosaic and it is a 4 panel set including the Tulip and Crescent Nebula. However, I was not aware that the sensor was 90 degrees clockwise rotate meaning I missed a 2 arc minute section between panels LOL So the data would be two mosaic images; one with the crescent the other with the tulip. Both Panel 1 and Panel 2 have 300s x 36 for Ha, S,O. Is this something that would be of interest and provide educational content for the community? HFRs for this was ~2.5 for most shots Both are from a Bortle 6 zone in Central Texas Equipment Sharpstar 61EDphii ZWO EAF, EFW 36mm SHO ZWO 1600mm Guiding : PHD2, 290 mini and mini guidescope Mount : HEQ6-R pro (yeah its overkill but wanted to hook into NINA) Sequencer : I'm running with scissors here and wanted to try out the new features in NINA. So I am using the Nightly Time build and used the Advanced Sequencer to program everything, connect equipment and sent me push notifications to my phone. lol Thanks for putting these Sunday Chat's together.
