Nebula Photos Sunday Chat #4 Recording

Informal demo of: http://cdsportal.u-strasbg.fr/
Followed by Q&A and discussion on various astrophotography topics including: forest fire smoke, light pollution, calibration frames, ISO, and many more.
With the camera in manual White Balance, should the flats be taken with the same K or back in Auto? Does it matter? I've been leaving it the same, which of course leaves for rather blue flats.

I often use cleardarksky.com, for Canada and US. Provides a searchable map with darkness pins, that when expanded provide a forecast with visibility ratings. That being said, I really like the simplicity of Good to Star Gaze, great tip thanks. I live just north of Kingston, Bortle 4, but driving an hour north brings me into North Frontenac, which is Bortle 2. You can really see the transition of visibility as you drive along.

Good question, yes I do recommend matching ISO. There is fixed pattern noise in the flats. It's most likely to correctly divide out of the lights with a matched ISO value.

One of the topics discussed in your chat was calibration frames, including flats. Is there a need to take the flats at the same ISO as the lights? Or do we just match the focal length & f/ratio?
