TRACKER vs. NO TRACKER Premiere TONIGHT

Nico, you mentioned a gadget, forgot how it is called to get one. You mentioned that when not using the ball head its easier to frame object similar when using the declination bracket with weight. Cheers and clear skies.

I know the skywatcher star adventurer pro pack is back in stock right now (https://bit.ly/2LRZlCc). This is the tracker I was using in the video. What I appreciate about the pro pack is it comes with all the accessories you actually need to use the tracker correctly (other than a tripod). I would not get a tracker without a latitude base (also called an equatorial wedge) for example. The declination bracket and counterweight kit is also very useful.

Thanks for coming to the premiere James! My main reason for leaving the lens hood on is it provides some protection against dew. Also if I notice some water droplets forming on the lens hood, I usually have a few minutes to then get out my lens warmer before the dew stars getting on the actual glass of the lens. Regarding t-shirt flats, the easiest is this: http://astrogizmos.com/T-Shirt%20OTA.htm that's what I typically use as they are already sized well, and they have constructed them with two layers of t-shirt so that the weave doesn't show up in your flats. If you construct your own just make sure to use white cloth with a fine weave and double it up. Some people also use a clouded plexiglass for diffusion, which may work even better.

Glad you could make it Michelle! I always have a nice time in the chat and get some good advice from the crowd

Hey Nico .... thank you for the video last night. I'm still trying to figure out which star tracker would be a good fit. I believe you helped narrow it down to two of them so I really appreciate it!

Great fun being on the premier last evening. Thanks so much Nico. I do have a couple of questions. I see you leave the lens hood on. Does that really make a difference at night? I've always left mine off. So if it does make a difference I'll change my approach. Do you use a particular brand of t-shirt for covering the lens when taking flats?! Seriously though - that's something I need to get sorted. Will any led tracing panel do, or is there something to look out for?
