Video Premiere - 9/10/2020 at 2pm ET

Wow, how is it already September?! I have a new video premiering tomorrow. Continuing with the recent theme of astrophotography without a star tracker or telescope; this time we will be capturing M31. I think it's one of my better untracked astrophotos and better videos so far! Hope you can join me at 2pm Eastern for the premiere. If not, the video will of course be available afterwards. https://youtube.com/c/nebulaphotos

Working on a bunch of other videos all at once including more videos on filters, the Canon RA full review, and a photo critique, see here to submit your photo in the critique!: https://youtu.be/1hUtJn244TU

What is everyone working on?

I've been thinking about doing something since Mars is so well-positioned. I'll try, but no promises! Clear skies, and good luck with your Mars shoot. You may not need the skyguider. I've done some planetary imaging without tracking and it is possible! You just have to recenter often! :)

What am I working on? I'm working on getting spousal permission to buy a Skyguider and a 5x Barlow and the necessary adapters so I can cobble together a rig with my long untouched 4", 500 mm refractor, and try to get an image of a Martian polar cap. I know deep sky is your thing, Nico, but maybe a short video about planetary photography on a budget?

Yes it seems weather in south central Kentucky cannot be counted on to follow the forecasts. Might still try my dark space this weekend and just subtract the wispy clouds from my Lights. Anyway thanks for the heads-up! Peace! ✌

I’m hoping to shoot the cocoon nebula this weekend. 🀞🏼 On Monday the forecast was all good, but now it gets more cloudy with every day we get closer to Friday.

Since the UK has been under cloud for about 3 weeks, I'm working on a computer controlled power bank to drive my telescope and laptop with home made closed loop control dew heaters. It calculates dew point in real time and auto throttles the dew heaters to a set point above the dew point. Loads of fun writing the code and 3D printing the enclosure πŸ‘

Thanks, Nico, got the notification πŸ‘
