The home-built spectrophotometer is finally working (see picture above of actual spectrum shot through an Optolong L-Pro Filter)! I hope to get back on track with the astro filter videos and finish them this month. At the moment, I think I will break it into two videos:
1. How to choose a filter for Astrophotography
This video will go in to mounting options for different camera types and optics, and different types of filters (narrowband, light pollution, specialty)
2. Light pollution filter shootout: Optolong L-Pro vs. Astronomik CLS vs. Svbony CLS vs. Baader Neodymium
This video will review some of the most popular and affordable options for light pollution filters. I will have samples from Bortle 4 and Bortle 9 with both a stock DSLR and a cooled OSC astro camera.
I am also working on a collaboration with Helena's Astro that will go over combining Ha with DSLR (RGB) data to make an image. Not sure if I will finish that video or the filters videos first. Depends on weather...
How's it going for everyone out there? I've not had the best June in terms of clear nights, but a few hours here and there.
Clear skies, Nico
