Hello all, and welcome to everyone new here! A couple months ago, I hit 10 patrons, and my first 10 patrons decided I should make a video about filters for astrophotography. I wanted to let everyone know I am still working on that, and it will actually be a series of videos. One of the exciting things I am doing for that series is building my own spectrophotometer so I can measure transmission of each filter I am using.
The above image of the N. America and Pelican Nebulae is a quick test from last night (Bortle 9) using the Optolong L-Pro, which is one of the light pollution filters I will be comparing to other popular CLS filters at various price points.
I just finished editing a video using Siril (https://siril.org) and I am very excited by this free program. I didn't realize just how powerful it is for fairly easy, and effective astronomical image processing.
Lastly, now that I am over 20 patrons, it is time for another poll to decide on another video. I will post that as soon as I finish the filters video series. I can't give you an exact ETA, but just know that I am working hard on it, and really hope that it helps people make good choices when it comes to purchasing filters.
Hope everyone is having a nice new moon week! Clear skies, Nico
