April Updates

Filter video: I've started outlining and brainstorming. Also, I've been buying filters to compare 😁. The really cheap ones (svbony brand) haven't arrived yet.

New video: I will be releasing a new 40 min. video called "Astrophotography on a cloudy night" this week. I've finished editing and just need to write a description and upload it.

My astrophotography: I've had just a few clear nights the past couple weeks. I've been working on M101 and my multi year Cygnus mosaic.

How's everyone doing? And what are you all working on?

I'd like to see a list of cheap filters just to get me started before I drop a few hundred bones on just one filter.

You're right! It is for planetary use. The 200 with 2x on the 645D works out to 508 which should be perfect and a lot more stable.

Thanks Dave! Yes, I am very interested in the use of camera lenses for astrophotography. One of the biggest challenges is just correctly mounting them to avoid image tilt, esp. with large sensors. 1000mm+ focal length is probably not a good idea on the Star Adventurer, but I'd love for you to prove me wrong. :)

Here's a suggestion for the next video - Medium format, and Full Frame lenses on Full Frame or APSC cameras. Theory of focal length and practical use. FYI - just received my latest lens for Astrophotography on my Pentax 645D... the SMC Pentax 67 Takumar 400mm f4. IT's HUGE and 5.5 lbs which puts my rig at 11lbs! Will max-out a Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer Pro. With my 2x adapter on a 645d I should get 1016 focal length. on my a6000 using the best optics at the center of the lens it would be 1525mm. The 400mm has 3" diameter objective for lots of light. My 200mm f4 will probably be more practical but....

I know you ordered it but you are more than welcome to try it out - I could mail it to you for trial if you want.

Very helpful. Thanks Dave!

I have this one I am still waiting to try - Haida Slim Nano Pro MC Clear Night Filter if that is any help.
