Hey all!
Got a bit of a more unique critter for you this month, a Manatee! These gentle giants frequent coastal waterways, and are also known as by the nickname, sea cow. I've had this fella on my list for a long time, so it was fun to finally get to make one!
Print the Body and Head, then snap-fit them together . Here's a quick Demo Video to show how it works.

Blue/Purple Multicolor: iSANMATE Blue/Purple, iSANMATE Red/Blue, Charcoal Black, Cotton White
Soft Rainbow Multicolor: Ziro Morandi, iSANMATE HS Coffee, Charcoal Black, Cotton White
Blue/Purple Single Color: Cookiecad Mermaid
Rainbow Single Color: iSANMATE PLA+ Rainbow

3D PRINTING SETTINGS:
Body: Print-in-Place. No supports needed. There is a small pre-support under the head ball joint. Remove and discard it after printing
Head: No supports needed. There is a small custom brim around the head to help with adhesion. Remove and discard it after printing
Multicolor 3MF (Compatible with PrusaSlicer and Bambu Studio)
10%-15% Infill (I recommend Gyroid, Crosshatch or 3D Honeycomb)
3 Walls. (Assuming 0.4mm nozzle. Adjust wall count to account for alternate
nozzle sizes)
This should generally scale down to about 60% with full articulation, on a well calibrated printer. Your mileage may vary.

2025-05-12 17:04:00 +0000 UTCI'm just now getting to the manatee and I am seeing an anomaly on the prints, on the left side behind the flipper on the body near the articulation opening - on each size I've printed, in the same spot there is a layer / smoothness issue. The opposite side is smooth. I thought maybe it was just a glitch in the one print, but I have 4 of them here now, all with the same "spot." Any ideas?

2024-12-30 02:37:24 +0000 UTCIf you change the layer height due to upscaling, should you do variable layer height and smoothing afterward? Or does shrinking the layer height fix any layer issues?

2024-12-02 03:33:01 +0000 UTCI really love the manatee. Sadly, The ombre color you used cannot be had. I figure it's the season and it will soon be available again. After much indecision I chose Overture Matte Light Brown. It doesn't have the greys I wanted, but it's as close as I can come right now and I like it better than the plain greys.

2024-10-26 14:20:46 +0000 UTCI printed at 60% and it works perfect other than the head being completely stuck in place once you get it on. Could be because the support material made the ball connection really uneven so clean it up a bit and should be fine
