Introducing my RoboTortoise design! This Robot Tortoise is a fun Sci-Fi twist on my original tortoise design. Last year, I made the RoboLotl to commemorate my first anniversary of my STL design journey. I thought that would be a fun theme to carry forward in celebration of my 2nd Anniversary! This was so much fun to design. I love diving into the details like the pistons and shocks, the solar panels, and of course the jet engines (this slow-poke needs all the help he can get)! I really hope you like it!!
Like the standard Tortoise model, it's fully print-in-place. You just have to crack the head free. To help him stand, there are small ball and socket joints on the ends of the legs. Just pull the legs out as far as you can, and they should snap into the position that will allow them to support it's weight. Then pop them back in to let him hide back in his shell. (The first few times might take some extra effort, but they should break-in nicely)
Here is a demo video of the model!
Cheers!
Matt

3D Print information:
RoboTortoise: Print-inPlace. No supports needed.
THREE Multicolor 3MFs! (Compatible with PrusaSlicer and Bambu Studio)
4-Color: The full “deluxe” print color scheme.
3-Color: Save on some print time and filament use. Still very detailed coloring.
2-Color: Save even more print time and filament. A bit less detailed, but still very fun. Great for IDEX printers! *Not compatible with Cura.
10%-15% Infill (I recommend Gyroid, Crosshatch or 3D Honeycomb)
3 Walls.
*if you get slicer alerts about "Floating regions", they can be safely ignored.
Pulling the legs out fully allows them to pop into sockets. That creates enough tension to make him stand up. It may be difficult the first few times, but once it wears-in, it should work with light effort. The head has built in pre-supports, just twist the head after printing to crack the joint free.
This should generally scale down to about 60% with full articulation, on a well calibrated printer. Your mileage may vary.
