patreon stress :3

Aah, one day... I'll find the right balance!

Making more exclusive stuff for Patreon helps in boosting this platform, but it also means (drum roll..!) making more exclusive stuff!!

And pardon me for talking $$, but since it is my main income, it's important for me to think about maintaining a financially stable Patreon.

It's always been a stable wave of slightly more, and slightly less income over these past years. Which is great already! But when the wave goes down I sometimes stress a bit :D and a little guilt might grow as well.

Do I post regularly enough? Not as much as I hoped I would! People might be disappointed and it might be a reason as to why the waves slowing a bit down.

Or it's summer vacation and it's what always happens at that time of year ;)

I'm sharing these thoughts with you, as I've regularly done so through the years, not to garner sympathy, nor to tell you to run away from here as fast as you can 'cause I can be bad at managing Patreon :D

I'm sharing because this is a space where I want to build honesty more than anything. And I just like sharing with you folks!

Plus, I personally like seeing creators sharing their thought process on these things, and how they live through them and all, so I'm happy doing so too!

Rightfully put, thank you for the reminder :)

Taking care of oneself is something wonderful anyone can do for those who care about you.

I’m with Carl. Of the 20 creators I sponsor, I check 4 Patreon pages on a weekly basis, and one of those is only because Patreon is more reliable than their public website. I enjoy the bonus content, but it’s not why I contribute.

Ryan Walker

I'm here to pay for the web-published comics... anything bonus content on Patreon is a just that to me: a bonus. An unnecessary extra. I back over 20 comic creators, I don't have _time_ for lots of bonus content. I enjoy little doodles and the like, of course, but they aren't what keep me contributing. If bonus content ever gets in the way of the Headless Bliss rework, or threatens your mental state, I vote for less bonus content.

Carl Cravens

Here support for EVERYTHING... even the invisible ones and the (VERY IMPORTANT) rest :)

Naelyth

Honestly,I do patreon to support people, for the first year I didn't even check the site because I forgot that i got something from it too, so anything you post is a bonus

Paul Hyson

It's all a gift C ! Never stress about it :)

DAVID SULLIVAN

You are lovely and your art is lovely, and all that scenario writing will pay off in some fantastic comics down the line!

Take it easy. Pressure saps creative juices. Let your personal excitement about your work fuel it. IMO artists are entitled to have this much freedom.

darklion

I'm glad that you feel that you can be honest with us. :)

Here to support a great comic artist! Giving back to a stranger for all the joy you gave to me through your work. Don't worry about it!

Oortbox

Hi there! I support artists on Patreon just to support them. The previews of pages and extras 🩷 are nice too.

Do the things you need to do before the things you want to do; don't be afraid to move things from one to the other. Took me years to learn the second part... waterbender philosophy comes to mind. Flow with the water before you bend it into ice, or some such.

Tenebrous Trahern

I am here to support you because I believe in your abilities and enjoy your work and so you do whatever makes you feel accomplished.

Pete White

Don’t underestimate how much mileage your fandom can get out of little doodles like that 😉

Taigan

Nice doodle. Don't be so hard on yourself. Take your time, relax, and just draw whatever comes to you. A lot of it might not be "worthy" enough for Patreon, but it might give you ideas and be worth sharing anyway. We just want to see pretty pictures made by you.

Orion Rhine

I'm definitely more in the "just here to support" camp, but I do hope you'll succeed in finding a healthy balance between delivering for Patrons and your other activities and duties.

Ramona Wanders

Good luck with finding a balance you're comfortable with!
