I stopped looking at my bill I just pay it.... it was making me sick..... example, water bill, I average $30 a month $16.00 of it is fees ($13.63 is meter fee beside other fees ) and they don't come to my house to read the meter all done in their office.... not counting if not paid on time $5.00 late fee on a $30.00 bill..

Hey Rudy, 2 things. First I had to crack up laughing when you started talking about preppers already prepping for next winter now. I just came from Wally World and picked up those hand/foot warmers 21 pairs at 50 cents each. I started last year getting on the every other month fill up for my propane tanks which are for the fireplaces and kitchen range instead of the once a year fill up due to the shortages. Us preppers think alike. Secondly - as you were talking about the gas prices, I thought about taxes. My state has one of the highest gas taxes around. I look at my utility bill, my phone and cable bill (cable just for Internet), etc. and look at all the charges we have to pay in addition to the actual price for the service. Here the state implemented a labor tax a few years ago. Any service provider (HVAC, Well Drilling, etc) that provides their labor to provide me with a service now has to charge a state tax for their labor charge and it all goes to the state. Since you are better with numbers than I am, have you ever counted up how much of our income is actually taxed. These charges add up. I was explaining to my 9 y.o. grand daughter that each time she buys a toy or a piece of bubble gum she has to pay taxes on it. That upset her for days. To put my own spin on a George Carlin saying: It's one big club and we ARE in it - we're just in the slave quarters and come out when called for to work the plantation.
