Haven't left doors unlocked in ages. Last time car door left unlocked, somebody helped themselves to a basket in the front seat I keep stocked with all kinds of things. Fortunately nothing with great value. House doors and windows ALWAYS locked. You are so right! When I grew up, we didn't bother locking cars or homes or much of anything - no need. That was so many years ago!!

Really, really bad news. Fortunately I have not seen this in my small town, except those who "patrol" the streets, helping themselves to whatever is lying about outside or on porches, including barbecues, propane tanks, delivered packages. Not in my exact area. Sometimes due to disability I have to leave a package on my porch overnight til someone can bring it in for me. So far so good. All the shootings and stabbings all over the country are horrifying, as is all other violence. We are definitely in trouble. All those who wanted to rid us of the police, defund police, etc, made perhaps the biggest mistakes of their lives. I doubt they are enjoying their "new freedom". God help us, every one!

In Salt Lake City, catalytic converters are chopped out every day. It is an epidemic! We have had it done to our work vehicles. My husband works for a car dealer in the parts department and he sees it daily. Sweet, friendly, moral, Salt Lake City is just as bad as anywhere else! Being hyper-vigilant in protecting yourself and your property is our new way of life. Gone are the days of leaving a door unlocked.
