CALIFORNIA DROUGHT COULD FORCE THE SHUT DOWN OF A MAJOR STATE POWER PLANT FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER

Comments

In the last few years, the State of California has closed 7 gas fired power plants; they are getting ready to close the last nuke plant. They have shown much desire to blow up several power provding dams to favor the "wild rivers" crowd...but why bring them up, they don't bathe anyway. At the present time, close to 50% of all power distributed in California is bought on the open & expensive grid market place..... thus driving up the price of electricity in those states that are able to be nearly self sufficient. For the last 5 years through trying times, they have shut the power down, once for almost 14 days in a row. They also have services like OHM which is an incentive to shut your power down for 1-3 hour periods to avoid buying electricity off the expensive grid and pay you a pittance for melting in the heat. They let water flow freely in order to save a fish, nearly extinct. In order to save the fish? They are exploding the population of a non native fish that came here in the 1840's as part of the gold rush in the ships and when drained out of said ships, stayed around and have a thriving population that feed on those the few native fish left. No new dams in years despite a burgeoning population. No planning, no nothing! Then they are encouraging "everyone" to go "all electric", including cars............... In these trying times, all ag producers of any kind are fighting to get a crop to market? And our so called government reps decided it was a perfect time to allow marijuana producers to put up marijuana greenhouses in the 10-12 big commercial size with no thought to water tables or the risk of completely running the state dry. Counties are being mandated to cut water use now. Lake Oroville is not the only lake in danger here. Some of the lakes along the Colorado River are threatened as well.......wonder what Las Vegas looks like in the dark, without lights. But because I live in the middle of fire country, where power is out often due to fires? It is business as usual! Car is loaded for a fast get away; the appliances will run on a propane generator and the well is gonna run on a Bluetti........California is mostly in trouble because there is not a whit of wisdom present in our so called representatives, who only represent themselves.........and it shows! I am one of the ones leaving, feeling absolutely betrayed and was born here.
