The one issue I have with "government benefits" is that politicians (including my own representative) alway refer to social security and medicare as "unfunded liabilities" and lump it in with a ton of other pork barrel freebies. "Unfunded liability" is a misnomer that those in power use to shame those of us who receive social security and medicare. We the working people involuntarily "funded" it and the drunken sailor politicians "misappropriated" our funds. I am sure that most of us could have invested what was hijacked from us and done a whole lot better than the guber'ment. They frittered our money away and now want to make us feel like they are doing us a favor at the expense of our children and grandchildren. If the guber'ment had not made involuntary withdrawls every pay period that I worked for 50+ years, I sure could leave a lot more for my grandkids. I refuse to buy their lie or their guilt trip.
