WEEKLY UPDATE #3: PLAYTEST ON AUGUST 9TH!

hey patrons!

FIRST OFF!:
THE NEXT STICKFIGUREZ PLAYTEST WILL BEGIN FRIDAY, AUGUST 9TH AND WILL RUN THROUGH THE WEEKEND! this should give me enough time to finish up micwizard, as well as implement some VFX and potentially finish 1 more stage! if that weekend is absolutely POPPING with players, i may extend the playtest for 1 whole week, but i won't be updating the playtest because i want to focus on some other aspects of the game that haven't been announced.

this week ended up being quite a slow week for me due to some changes at home. i mentioned last week that we adopted a new puppy, but what i didn't mention was that this puppy was abused and abandoned in the park next to our house, and trying to acclimate her to actually living indoors has been quite a struggle (she's getting better every day though!). normally, i work on the game while my girlfriend goes to her job monday-friday, but most of my alone time has been spent on the puppy this week, which isn't sustainable for the game. we're changing the schedule up this week so that i'll babysit the puppy while she's at work, and then work on the game in the afternoon-evenings while we switch shifts. this way i'll actually end up getting MORE hours for the game, because i can still work a bit during my shifts while she naps. i know that's a lot of personal life info you didn't ask for, but i just wanted to be clear as to why this week was so empty, and how we're changing it next week so i can get back to stickfigurez!

when i did have time to work, it was MOSTLY on micwizard. however, after adding more and more of his kit to the game, i was slowly coming to the realization that this character is uhhhh.....really.....reaaaaallllyyy good lol. WAYYYYY too overtuned, and simply had too many options to constantly keep you at a distance, and then teleport away once you finally made it in. there were very few weaknesses overall, so i spent a lot of time coming up with new specials and IMPACT specials that weren't so spam-heavy and didn't give him as much variety of range. this requires a lot of theory-crafting and thinking, but i think i'm comfortable with what i've come up with, and i'll be implementing the rest of his kit this week (hopefully on stream!)

i also worked quite a bit on character #5, who i really want to reveal sometime in august, as well as their stage, which i also can't show because it immediately spoils the character lol. (that should at least give you a couple hints!)

giving myself a deadline for the playtest worked out really well last time, so capping myself at 2 weeks should motivate me to get as much done as i can in the coming days. i look forward to playing the new build with all of you and hearing your feedback!!

this week's update will be available to everyone because it doesn't show anything, and i'll probably start doing the weekly updates on friday now, instead of mondays, so it will line up with the playtest. talk to you then!
