I FOUND A GREAT WAY TO STORE DRIED GOODS IN BULK WITHOUT USING MYLAR BAGS OR OXYGEN ABSORBERS

Comments

I never have used the Mylar bags or oxygen absorbers. My grand parents didn't have those things. I still have a metal Cherry Can full of mushrooms my grand dad dried back in the late 1940's. They are STILL good when rehydrated.

Like Terri Phillips, I also use 5 gallon buckets with Gamma Seal lids for my dry goods. I put home dried veg and fruits into plastic drink bottles with a piece of Saran wrap over the top before tightening down the top, kind of as a secondary gasket seal. I stack some in the basement, and some in the barn workshop area. I cover them with a clear garbage bag to keep the spiders, dust, and "critters" off.

I use 5gal buckets with gamma lids for our rice, flour and sugar that I keep in the pantry for daily use. I'll look for these though because stackable would be much better!
