My wife use to be asthmatic so wood for heat is not preferred; however, for emergency I will have a wood stove stored in my trailer for quick install.

2019-10-05 15:02:51 +0000 UTCI have that Yamaha you showed last...I picked it up this summer so if our grid was down, I could power my chest freezer. It has a lot of meat and fish and would be costly to replace the contents. I am just starting to prep in some of these other areas.

I have a 2.8 kW off-grid solar system and a water stove that pumps heated water from solar/wood into my air handler. I came into the money from a "sad windfall" so let's leave it there. Even at that, with 870 A-H or storage i can only supply the essentials and go into "cut back mode" when the power goes out for long. ... I need electricity for the house blower motor as well as the pumps and blower on the water stove. I recently bought a wood cook stove/oven that I intend to install in my shed as a "warm space" and outdoor cook area. For the summer I am prepared to have a "cool room" with a small AC window unit. Were I to start all over again, i'd have whole house wood stove and skip the water stove but this is the house and wife a I have.
