I think Ben Franklin was the one who said that....it's not in the Bible! But We do need to care for our family first, and community next. That said - God gives us the strength, resources and courage to prepare! Scripture supports preparing for hard times. To say that I don't have to do anything because God will protect me is just incorrect and not based on Scripture.

I was taught that God helps those who helps themselves. Prepping can be a family project "community" starts at home
