200 pounds in 1975 is 1,500 pounds now. Basil doesn't want richer customers. He wants a higher class of customer. Class and income or wealth are not the same thing. In America they are, but in Europe, less so. How people speak tells you their class, not their salary.

Oh and you’re going to love Sybil (Basil’s wife). She don’t take no crap from anyone!
