yes tipping the bar staff is something I now think is very strange after living here for awhile!

2023-11-21 01:10:26 +0000 UTCMy one experience of being in a pub in Canada was walking to the bar, and the barman (who must have heard my British accent) very clearly stating that tipping is NOT optional even if just buying a drink. I mean, I kind of get it, they rely on tips to live, and must be used to Brits not tipping, but at the same time I thought "what a lovely welcome!". (Gotta say though that was the only negative of my trip to Canada, beautiful country and cracking people!).

Sorry that you and Alanna have had to put up with this crap.
