I'll asterisk out some letters (not sure how moderation works on Patreon, I know on YouTube it's pretty strict). N**ger was certainly an offensive term in the UK during the 70's (though it was still commonly used, my Dad grew up during this time and said he would hear it thrown about all the time). It was still used in quite a bit of 1970's comedy, sometimes as a clever take on outdated attitudes (Ahem, Fawlty Towers!), and unfortunately often used as just a lazy way to get a cheap joke. Ne*ro is more complicated, as far as I can tell it was an acceptable term for a long time and was the term which many black people would describe themselves as, but during the 70s it started to die out and become more associated with a slur than an identity. I think I remember Ne*ro being used in Only Fools, so maybe it was being used up into the 80's? I can't remember any examples from the 90s onwards.
