I'll be honest that when I first went on Jubilee's channel I saw the clickbaity stuff and went "hm. not my tempo". BUT. after watching this vid I decided to go give it a shot, and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it! I honestly wish we could have heard more from you in the vid lol, but I get what you said about them having to trim it down for time.
I was really intrigued by the part where the out christian gay guy was talking about being celibate. At first as he was talking, I was really in my ID as aromantic and was like "yes!! love with your community/friend group!!". I will say that the more he talked the more I disagreed with *why* he chose to be celibate..... BUT I also found it really interesting that some of the other folks in the discussion jumped to "if you aren't pursuing a romantic/sexual relationship with an individual partner, you are denying yourself love/true expression of your identity". Like, the more I get comfortable with myself as homosexual aromantic (in large part thanks to watching your vids, they're a great reminder that I'm allowed to be a complex nuanced person who doesn't fit neatly into general conceptions of what it means to be A Gay), the more I find myself noticing and chafing a little at the notion that your identity as a queer person is legitimized through the pursuit of romantic partnership. I do wonder how much of it comes down to visibility-- that having a same-gender partner is a way of visibly/socially signalling that you're gay, in a more direct way than the covert signalling of dress/the way you speak/the way you hold your body/the language you use/etc.
this comment turned into a whole essay so-- thank you for the time and effort you take in sharing your thoughts with The Internet, your vids have really helped me develop a more nuanced understanding of myself and have helped me move towards a good faith curiosity about how other people experience the world <3
