The media and the missing, Missing "White" woman syndrome explained

Okay so I seldom say this about my own videos but this is probably one of the more important videos I've done. It's a bit heavy (in subject matter but hopefully not in delivery), but I'm honestly so proud of this one.

I'd love to hear y'alls thoughts.

The media and the missing, Missing "White" woman syndrome explained

As someone who used to work in media, I can tell you, unfortunately, they do proritize advertisers and pushing stories or agendas that the people in high position support. I don't live in North America, it might be different, but here in my country, politicians (or their relatives) can own a fair share of stocks/holdings in major media companies. It plays a huge influence especially on voting season. Journalists or reporters can push some stories but the end decision always falls on editor in chief or managing editor. You gotta be really good at pitching stories if you want it to be published, especially if it differs from the usual "theme". And remember some stories are always heavily edited first, if we're talking written news here, either for clarity or space availability on paper. Sometimes you just gotta work on the materials and assignments your editor told you to do. That being said, some media company do keep their neutrality, and that comes with its own drawbacks such as limited fundings and advertisers, and ultimately less people to hire and/or lower salary. Even digital media outlets sometimes has difficulty maintaining their integrity due to clickbait competitions. It's a shitty industry, to say the least, and we live in a shitty world. As always, love your video, and I'm so glad that you put this on light. English is not my first language and I know it's a cliche thing to say, but language barrier is a big thing. I try my best to explain this coming from someone who was working in media industry for years.
