Money On The Table
Added 2025-05-29 04:25:14 +0000 UTCHi, everyone! Bigg here! Welcome to BP Games's second-ever attempt at maintaining a regular crowdfunding presence! We did actually have a Patreon for several years, but we were extremely little-known the whole time and the peak of our monthly earnings never broke, like, thirty-five Canadian dollars. After several more years and a ridiculous amount of work, we are now A Little Bit Known, so perhaps the time is right to give this another go.
It's more than just having a larger audience now, of course. I also came to the realization that I was already doing, for free, basically everything that running a monthly crowdfunding page entails. I've been publishing a monthly development-update newsletter for over a year at this point. I got a company website with information about all our projects set up, and have even been blogging regularly. And since the pleasantly-successful Monstrous Liberation launch, we've had a extremely talented little team putting out great work that I'm excited to show off. At a certain point, you do just have to let people give you money for doing these things (following the MonLib launch, there were several people who actually expressed surprise that we weren't on Patreon. Well, here you go).
I think I'm also in a better place as far as self-worth goes than I was back during our first attempt a Patreon. Back then, we really didn't have much to offer people outside of what I'll be the first to admit is an extremely thin demo for As Above/So Below. Things are different now. I'm really, truly proud of the work Pacha and I did on Opportunity - the game might not have been the biggest financial success, but it seems to have resonated really strongly with the people that it did reach. The growth of the Adult Analysis Anthology, both in terms of its contributions and its overall reach, has been super encouraging, and I'm excited to keep it growing. And, of course, the response to Monstrous Liberation since the early-access launch in March has been extremely cool to see. Heck, I've even published a lot of work that I think is really good over on the blog! I think that both Pacha and I have improved a lot within our respective crafts the past several years, and I no longer feel delusional for expecting that people might want to pay us to keep getting better.
A bit of housekeeping: our digital-download perk rewards for things like games are currently integrated with Itch, but if you're subscribed at the appropriate tier and want a Steam key, just DM me and I'll slide you one. Also, don't hold your breath for a BP Games Discord server coming into existence any time soon. Besides really not wanting to add "Discord moderation" to the already-far-too-long list of jobs I have on my plate, I've got simultaneous terrors of such a server either being a ghost town or an absolute fuckfest, so I'm saving myself that stress right out the gate.
So, once again: welcome! I hope you continue enjoy the things we make!
