Just to show you how bad I am at planning I ended up splitting part 1 into 2 parts. I have a lot of the other parts more than halfway done so I will get those done and uploaded ASAP. I started school today, so things have just been a lil hectic : )Also, just for full disclosure since Part 1 was split I will be uploading part 1 and 2 to DA. (When the story is fully uploaded here of course)
A cold breeze blew outside Highlands High School on a chilly October day. Principal Mr. Mutalo sat in his office filling out endless paperwork. “Sir, did you see the headlines? The activist groups won, home economics is going to be required in schools all across the state.” His secretary held up an official letter from the state. The usually unenthusiastic principal looked up frantically, “Give me that” he said snatching the paper out of her hand and glancing it over. “Shit! This ruins everything! Do you know how much a Home Ec classroom cost? Not only do we have to repurpose a big classroom but we have to get appliances and everything! There goes my bonus for this semester!” His secretary coughed to try to interject his rant, “Sir, you could use that old computer lab, that’s on the side of the school. The principal shook his head, “No no, Mr. Phillips uses that lab for a high level computer class. The old fucker hasn’t given up that room in 20 years. The old bad just needs to retire. Anyways, we are going to have to spend a fortune on renovations to make a new classroom.” The secretary got nervous again, “Sir… you could uh use the uh… machine that the state dropped off a couple of weeks ago.” The words sent chills down the principal’s spine “No way, the guy who dropped it off was a total creep, “Demographic balancer” It has got to be a joke.” The principal opened a cabinet, the machine looked like a humidifier, only it had a huge interactive keypad on it. The principal took off the wrapping it came in, and plugged it in. As it powered on it made a futuristic sound, “What the…” The principal’s jaw dropped.
After a couple of minutes of fidgeting with it, Mr Mutalo glanced at his secretary, “I think we have no choice, I NEED to take my wife on a cruise, and we can’t unless I get this bonus. Start the machine for testing, I will fetch a student.” Mr Mutalo’s secretary nodded and proceeded to set the machine to a random setting, as she didn’t know what her boss wanted, Mr Mutalo walked into the busy hall. He glanced down at the classlist of 6 students in Mr. Phillips class. All of them were seniors attending prestigious universities next fall. A wave of guilt rushed over Mr. Mutalo, he thought maybe he shouldn’t do it, that these student’s lives were more important than a cruise. But then Hunter Rodgers rushed passed the daydreaming principal. “Son could I see you for a second?” He yelled down the hall to Hunter, who stopped in his tracks. “Yes Sir, could you please hurry, Mr. Phillips said if I’m late again he might fail me.” Mr. Mutalo chucked, no worries Hunter step into my office quickly, I’ll inform Mr. Phillips.”
As Hunter stepped into the office he heard a consistent loud noise coming from a weird looking machine. “What’s that noise?” He asked Mr. Mutalo, who was already sitting down smiling at him. Hunter, you know our biggest game of the season is coming up.” Hunter nodded, “Yessir, rivalry games are always fun.” Mr Mutalo held his fake smile, “Well Drew Cannon slipped and fell in his kitchen and broke his arm this morning, so you are the starting QB. I’m going to need to see the best out of you.” Hunter looked like his family had been murdered, the jock had been coasting off the popularity of being on the football team without being on the football team. He never actually wanted to play. “I won’t let you down sir.” Hunter gulped. Mr Mutalo grabbed a long tube coming out of the machine. “Of course not! That’s why we need to make sure, could you inhale this for me?” He handed him the tube. Hunter took the tube and stared at Mr. Mutalo with skepticism, “Are these steroids?” Mr Mutalo laughed and shook his head, “No no son, don’t worry, this will just help you… understand the game better.” Hunter shrugged, what did he have to lose? He hesitated as he pulled the pipe up to his face, but ultimately he took a puff of whatever pink smoke the machine was producing. Mr Mutalo continued to smile.
