Yay only 2 days late! Really sorry for the delay guys, life got in the way. I hope the wait is worth it :)
Seth Rodgers groaned as he walked into his Dad’s house. He was really sore from swim practice. He placed his bag on the floor and opened the fridge to look for a snack. His dad kept nothing in the fridge but beer and ketchup. Seth sighed, he was starving. His parents divorced 2 years ago and ever since his dad was living the bachelor lifestyle. Seth walked down to the basement to see his dad with 3 empty beer bottles next to him, he was watching some cop show. “Hey dad” Seth said unenthusiastically. Tim Rogers looked over from the TV. “How’s it goin son?” He asked, quickly glancing at Seth. “Fine I guess” Seth shrugged. “What about swimming practice son? Good? Practice hard?” Seth hated his dad’s small talk, he knew he didn’t care, He had been swimming his whole life, his mom got him into it, his dad was a baseball player and fan, and was secretly resentful of Seth for choosing swimming. “It was good, I won the 100m butterfly today.” His dad took another sip of beer, “Not sure what that means son but congrats I guess.” He said staring at the TV. Seth rolled his eyes, he went upstairs to wait for his mom to come and get him.
Seth’s mood jumped as he saw his mom’s minivan pull up to his dad’s house. He hated being in the gross apartment. Barbara Rodgers noticed her son looked down as he walked out to her car. “How’s your father hun?” She asked while he put his bag in the back. “I don’t know… I don’t wanna talk to him.” moped Seth. Barbara was concerned, Seth needed a father figure in his life… even if Tim was an idiot. “Gimme just a sec.” She said turning off the car and opening the door of the van. Seth rolled his eyes, he hated when his parents fought, and he knew his mom was going to do that right now.
Tim sat in the same chair chomping chips, he heard footsteps coming down the stairs, thinking it was Seth he called out, “Hey son mind grabbing me another beer?” But to his distaste he saw his bitch of an ex wife walking down the stairs furiously. When she reached the bottom and crossed her arms, “How could you be such a lazy ass Tim? Your son is depressed because you don’t care about him and yet you sit down here 24/7 watch baseball!” Tim rolled his eyes as he took the barrage of words from his ex wife. He wanted to ignore her like always, but she did have a good point. “Fine Barb fine, I’ll go to one of his swim meet things.” Barb stomped her foot, “He’ll know I made you show up! Why don’t you put in some actual effort you lazy idiot?”
Tim sighed, Barb was right, Seth was his son, and even though they didn’t see eye to eye he still wanted to be there for him. “Fine… I’ll start swimming… just to see what it’s about, I guess.” Barb uncrossed her arms, “I don’t care what you do Tim, just get your shit together.” she stomped up the stairs and slammed the door.
It was a week later. Tim changed into his swim trunks in the rec center locker room. He signed up for an adult swimming lessons class. Seth didn’t know he was doing this, but hopefully when he found out, he could see that Tim was trying. Tim looked at himself in the mirror before heading out to the pool, he sighed at his hairy beer belly. This was the most out of shape he’d ever been, maybe this class would be good for him.
Tim stepped out to the pool, the smell of chlorine immediately filled his nostrils. The pool was completely empty, except a woman on the other end swimming. “Hello!” her voice echoed, “I’m Veronica! You must be Tim.” Tim walked around the pool and over towards her. “Nice to meet you Veronica.” He reached out his hand. Veronica gave him a dirty look and didn’t shake it. She pointed towards his bathing suit, “You need to change your suit hun! Special suits only allowed in the pool.” She turned around and grabbed a black two piece bathing suit. It looked almost shiny. Tim was confused, he had never heard something like that before. “Okay?” He said, taking the suit and heading back to the locker room. He returned 2 minutes later, embarrassed, it was like a malekini. Veronica looked at the overweight hairy main in the small two piece bathing suit and smirked. “Are you ready to get started sweetie?” Tim already regretted doing this, “I guess, where are the other students?” Veronica jumped in the pool, “You are the only one who signed up! You get a cheap private lesson!” She gushed. Tim shrugged, “Alright let’s do this I guess.” He said getting ready to jump in the pool. Veronica frantically jumped out, “Oh no no sweetie, we need to get some things down before we get in the water.” Tim was already confused, “Okay? Like what?” Veronica smiled, “You’ll see!”
