Meanwhile, the other 3 firefighters had gotten their hose deployed and started spraying it at the relentless pink smoke. The smoke was so thick they could barely even see where the fire was. Josh had to admit, this was the first time he’d felt fear while working, the smoke was incredibly thick, and it was almost messing with head. The 3 guys had lost contact with Tim and Brandon and every other first responder arriving on the scene. It was a eerie sense of being alone. “We gotta get closer!l We gotta see if we can see a way out!” Josh yelled at Alan and Bryce, who were ahead of him on the hose. “Fuck that I’m not going deeper!” Bryce yelled at his captain. “Fine! Man the hose! We will come back for you!” Bryce watched as his 2 squadmates left the hose, within seconds the smoke overtook them, and Bryce was alone. It would be the last time he saw Alan and Josh.
As Alan and Josh continued deeper, the smoke obviously thickened. Both their heads clouded even more, their thinking was different, they couldn’t use all their brainpower. Alan yelled in desperation as he felt himself getting weaker and weaker… and weaker. Josh put him over his back as he collapsed to the ground, but it wasn’t soon after Josh had lost all of his strength, both men laid in the rubble of the explosion, sure they were both dead. As the plume of smoke billowed around them, Josh and Alan fell asleep.
Brandon paced nervously at the hospital, he was really concerned about Tim, things wern’t looking good and he didn’t want to have to break the news to his family. He had been waiting for a couple of hours now, he looked out the window to still see smoke pouring out of the building from across town, he knew he was going to get fired for abandoning his post, but he had to think about his friends and family, he for sure was going to die if he stayed there. A nurse emerged shaking her head, “There’s nothing we can do, your friend was administered such a strong dose that all of the changes have already occurred.” Brandon was puzzled, “Dose of what, and changes?” The nurse shook her head again, “Look… I gotta go this is something we have never seen before, he is being discharged to you and should be out here in a couple of minutes.” Brandon’s mood jumped, Tim was being discharged already? That was news he wasn’t expecting but great news. Brandon stared at the door, waiting for Tim to emerge, he was prepared for the worst since the nurse mentioned changes., hopefully his hand was okay. The door shot open, Brandon’s jaw dropped, in the doorway the fakest looking woman Brandon had ever seen. Her plastic body was plastered in spray tan, her platinum blonde hair looked to be freshly bleached, she had on a skin tight hot pink minidress and a pair of white stilettos. Instead of walking out of the hospital she approached Brandon, “Could you take me home sweetie?” She had a perfect stereotypical ditzy voice. Brandon was obviously confused, “Uh sorry I’m waiting for a friend.” The girl rolled her eyes, “You like totally came here with me you ditz! Now like drive me home me and Brit are going to the club tonight!” Brandon was still confused… but his mind slowly put the missing pieces together, standing in front of him was his ex squadmate Tim. His jaw dropped, “Dude… what the… fuck..” He couldn’t muster up the words. Tiffany gave him a look like he was an idiot, “Why are you being a total creep? Ugh whatever I’ll just call an Uber!.” She slung her purse over the shoulder, Brandon blacked out.
