The next day Marilyn sat crossed legged on the couch painting her nails and watching her favorite Hallmark movie. Clyde was out in the fields working, Marilyn tried not to ruin her makeup, but she couldn’t help but ball when the Hallmark couple finally made their long distance relationship work. She was so thankful that she never had to do such a thing with Clyde. As she grabbed another tissue she heard the doorbell ring. Marilyn jumped from the couch and scurried over to the door the best she could in wedges. Before she opened the door she made sure her hair and makeup looked okay. Marilyn opened the door to see a tall black boy standing on her porch, she let out a small gasp, she wasn’t used to talking to these kind of folk. “Excuse me is Mike here?” The boy asked. Marilyn was confused, “I think you got the wrong address honey, you better leave before my husband sees ya.” She started to shut the door, the boy reached his hand to stop her. “Is this Clyde Dixon’s house?” The boy asked. Marilyn opened the door, “Why yes, why don’t you wait here while I go get him.” She shut the door and locked it, she didn’t want to risk him in her neat house.
CleAnthony was already creeped out. Mike had never mentioned anything about Clyde having a hot trophy wife. CleAnthony couldn’t get over how elegant and feminine she was, seemed like the opposite of Clyde from what Mike had told him, but opposites attract may be right after all. The door opened again, standing there with a shotgun in hand was the old geezer in a white wife beater saggy jeans and dirty work boots. “Get out of here young man, now.” Was all he said to Cleanthony. “Sir I’m looking for Mike, could you please tell me what happened to him?” Clyde smiled slyly, “Ah sure I’ll tell ya, come in.” CleAnthony warily stepped in to the sweet smelling home. It was immaculately clean, and had very thoughtful southern decorations throughout. As CleAnthony slowly sank into the couch, Clyde’s wife walked by and handed both guys lemonade. She sat down next to Clyde, who put his arm around her. She blushed, snuggled closer and grabbed his knee. “So, you really wanna know where yer friend Mike is?” Clyde smiled at CleAnthony, who was concerned. “Uh yeah.” He stuttered back. “She’s right here!” Clyde hugged his wife closer, Marilyn wasn’t sure what the two were talking about, she assumed it had to do with work and she didn’t want to eavesdrop, she was just there to look pretty.
CleAnthony could barely think. There was 0 chance this woman was Mike. Zero. Mike was a teenager, not middle aged. Second, Mike was a guy, and a straight one too, he’d never shown signs of being gay or trans. Third, Mike was never elegant, the kid wore basketball shorts to school everyday. This woman was wearing a floral printed blouse and it looked like her makeup took her all morning. CleAnthony laughed at what he thought was a poor attempt at a joke. Clyde saw that he wasn’t being taken seriously, “Why would I bring you in here to lie to you boy? Now get the fuck out of my house?” Realization hit CleAnthony that this woman used to be his best friend, there was no other explanation for Clyde marrying someone so attractive. CleAnthony was stunned, “I’m calling the cops on you, you turned him into your sex slave!” CleAnthony booked for the door. As he went to open it he was tackled from behind. CleAnthony and Clyde rolled on the ground struggling, CleAnthony threw a punch that hit the old man in the face. Marilyn screamed and covered her face, “Don’t hurt him!” She screamed at CleAnthony. Clyde was a lot stronger than CleAnthony thought, and soon he was overpowered. “Yer done now boy.” He dragged CleAnthony towards the basement. Clyde opened the door and threw the teenager down the stairs, quickly locking it. Marilyn hugged her husband, “Oh my gosh baby are you okay? Let me get an ice pack!” She said noticing Clyde’s black eye. Clyde shook his head, and planted a passionate kiss on his wife, “We are going to be parents!” Marilyn gushed with excitement, ever since she met Clyde she had always wanted a daughter.
“Carleigh Ann your breakfast is ready!” Marilyn Lynn Dixon yelled up to her daughter. The housewife had already been up for 3 hours to make breakfast for her family. It only took 30 minutes to cook breakfast, but two and a half hours to doll herself up. She liked to look her very best for Clyde, today she was wearing a modest silk pink dress, she planned to pair it with her 5 inch heeled white fur boots to go shopping later in the day. She elected for black eye shadow over her usual blue today, just to change things up. She had her beautiful blonde hair pushed back on one side to show off the studded diamond earrings Clyde had got her for their anniversary.
“Here’s your pancakes darlin.” She said smiling to Clyde, who didn’t look up from the newspaper. Marilyn quickly started on another pancake for Carleigh, it had been a year since the family moved to a ranch in the countryside, Clyde and Carleigh was as happy as could be, Marilyn wasn’t the happiest , as the nearest mall with designer clothes was over 2 hours away, but as long as her family was happy she was happy. Just as she finished the 2nd pancake Carleigh walked into the kitchen. She was wearing a tight white lace sundress and a pair of tan cowgirl boots. Her gorgeous blonde hair was precisely curled. She had a cheer bag slung over her shoulder. “Morning daddy.” She said kissing Clyde on the cheek before sitting down. As Marilyn set her plate down Carleigh Ann scoffed, “Ugh mom, you know I started a gluten free diet two days ago! I can’t eat this. Ugh I don’t have time anyways.” Marilyn was used to her daughter’s attitude, “Sorry sweetheart I completely forgot. Do you need a ride to school?” A smile instantly lit up Carleigh’s face, “Nope! Colt is here to pick me up! Isn’t he the sweetest?” Clyde finally chimed in, “You need to marry that boy you hear me girl. “He’s one hell of a ball player.” Colt was an all state Tight End and a good country boy so naturally Clyde loved him. Carleigh blushed and was instantly embarrassed, “Colt is here! Bye mommy! Bye daddy!” She said quickly and kissing them both on the cheek trying to avoid the awkward conversation. “I will pick you up after cheer practice sweetheart!” Marilyn called out to her as she ran out the door.
Marilyn and Clyde walked out on their porch to wave to Colt. Marilyn smiled as she watched her 16 year old daughter run gleefully into the bigger arms of her boyfriend leaning against his truck. Marilyn got butterflies as she watched Carleigh Ann got on her tiptoes to kiss Colt, it reminded Marilyn of her and Clyde. Clyde wrapped his arm around his wife’s hourglass body and let out a wave to Colt. Colt waved back and proceeded to open the door for Carleigh. Marilyn put her head on her old man’s chest and sighed, she was so thankful for her family.
