UPDATE: Power outage from tree branch falling
Added 2019-10-22 22:18:40 +0000 UTCThanks to everyone who wrote to us concerned about the scary tree branch falling and cutting our power line Sunday night as we were recording TTN. Everything is back to normal - no damage to the house luckily (it paid off removing the 10 trees around the house back in 2013 to make solar possible, cause for sure one of those would have come down by now.)
It had been very wet on Sunday and then during the evening we got some wind gusts that took down trees all throughout Massachusetts. But our 4 Tesla Powerwalls did their duty and other than a few milliseconds that flickered a couple of the studio lights, we never lost power. A big oak tree branch took out the power line from the street to our house, but I have to hand it to National Grid (and I don't usually do that), they were out and had a crew fixing the power cables within half an hour. By 1:30am we were back on grid power. In the 3 hours that the grid power was out, we used about 5kWh of battery power (52kWh battery pack) mainly because we were still charging our Nissan Leaf. :)
