And please keep in mind that being labeled as a republican doesn't mean you don't believe in global warming or a clean environment. That is a stereotype and I am not that kind of republican.

An electric jet engine is difficult thing to imagine. A jet engine works by ejecting a gas out the back of the engine at extremely high velocity. This gas is formed by the burning (combining) of the fuel (e.g. Kerosene) with the oxygen from the air taken in through the large intake opening in the cowling at the front of the engine. Electricity could not replace the fuel in this process because electricity is not a substance. Electricity is a process, - a flow of electrons. There is no creation or transfer of a substance in this flow of electrons, and thus no creation of any substance that could somehow be thrust out the back of some “electric jet engine”. A physical fuel is required. Instead of an electric jet, hopes would be better placed on NASA’s Em Drive, or an eventual antimatter or antigravity drive. So far, these ideas are (to my knowledge) – at best – highly theoretical and speculative. ------------------------------ More on what electric energy is and why it cannot replace the fuel burned in a jet engine (in simple terms): Electrical energy is not in electrons; it is in the flow of electrons. Charging a battery does not fill the battery with any more electrons than were there to start with. It forces the electrons already present to flow in a particular direction to cause a change in the chemical composition of the battery at the anode and the cathode and create a chemical potential energy – so that at rest, the energy is in the chemistry, not the electricity. This chemical condition is stable only so long as the anode and cathode are electrically isolated. When the anode is connected to the cathode by a conducting circuit that passes through a motor, the unstable chemistry reverts to a stable state by forcing a flow of electrons from one terminal to the other through the conducting circuit – and thus through the motor. As long as the electrons are flowing, there is electrical energy in the conductor that the motor converts to mechanical energy. There is no transfer of a substance to the motor in this process, and thus no creation of any substance that could somehow be thrust out the back of some “electric jet engine”.

Yes, but this report on the duck curve problem is not by Fox, but by Vox news - which is supposed to be a more left hand liberal news source.

Instead of killing Airlines, I trust that the airlines will feel the competition, and Airbus and Boeing will put their money into research and development for electric jet engines. We have seen recently that we can build electric small planes. I suspect that with the changes in battery and engine technology, there can and will be real electric jets out there. Im hoping anyhow.

Fox is a bias cable news and is not liberal. Is the right hand of republicans.
