Pałac Gorzanów, a sprawling 17th centuary baroque palace in various states, from beautifully preserved, elaborate painting and stucco, through to crumbling ruins in parts. Swallows flew overhead as they nested in the decorative statues of angels that adorned the ceiling and bats flew through the upper level rafters at night. Chickens wandered about the grounds and courtyard. It was AMAZING.
This was the most incredible artist residency I've ever done, back in 2021. I am only just ow having time to process that. It was for around 150 different types of artists and the palace was HUGE, there was a lot going on. It was also unique and amazing in the height of organisation they provided to facilitatae spontaneous collaboration. There was a recording studio, movement space, theatre, cinema, craft room, costume room, tattoo studio, dining courtyard, circus tent, dance floor, writing room and probably even more things I didn't discover.
Over 30 of the residents even produced their own home made, 1-hour long porn film which was surprisingly beautful. No, I don't have copy, sorry.
So I met a photographer at 2am, she was keen to do a shooting. We went to the costume workshop and chose a look together. Then we explored the palace, shooting in different corners and poses. It was a new experience for me because she shot on film, no preview images, no edits. It feels like you are shooting blind.
So this is how they turned out! Of course, they have that vintage film quality, some washed out and over exposed, some awkward poses without chance for adjustment, but I like it. And it was really a lot of fun!
