New York Rooftop Merkin Fashion Shoot

The concept behind these images was a project called 'Merkins Annual'. The idea: to create the world's first fashion magazine for pubic wigs. This would be high concept FASHUN, showcasing the possibilities in stylish merkins for all seasons.

This particular shoot was done on a rooftop venue in Greenpoint, New York called the Mothership. It was a sunny summer's day, perfect for this sporty piece in urban genital style.

Fun fact: this haute couture merkin is made from thoroughbred muppet fur, sourced directly from the Puppet Kitchen studio. They're a wonderful puppet and props building studio, servicing Broadway, the advertising industry and touring theatre companies and based in Flushing, Queens.

Unfortunately the project never saw the light of day, but I still have a bunch great photos.

I only ever released the portrait. Perhaps the revival of this magazine idea could be a good quarantine project? What do you think? Would a whole magazine make a good coffee table piece?

Otherwise, like many projects, at least I am thoroughly amusing myself!
