The Joy Project - Video Update

I did my first creative work on the Joy Project (working title)! You remember? That collaborative project that I used to lure a bunch of you into signing up to this Patreon? Yeah! That one!

Ok, so remember how, like, I think a month ago, perhaps a smidge longer, I was like "Hey guys! uh, come join me on Patreon and I'm gunna make this great big project and it's gunna be super cool you're gunna give me a word and I'm gunna incorporate that into that into this great big collaborative piece and it's gunna be fabric and colorful and blah blah blah blah"? SUPER COOL.

A lot of you signed up. Which is -ahyuck- which is great, but then it was like "Oh fuck, now I have to make this?" And I have been kind of nervous to get started.

I went through and I took, just entry by entry, everybody's comment in the order it was given, and I copy-pasted the word that the people had given and I put it into the spreadsheet- boom boom boom boom boom - in that order.

Then I went through and I categorized everything. It was like, okay, "what- what- what is in common with what else?" and I came up with these categories: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven. I came up with these seven categories: Activity, Animal, Art/Creativity, People/Family, Feeling/Spiritual, Nature, and Physical Object.

Then I procrastinated another few weeks, and then last night I was like "Fuck it. I gotta get started. I'm not ready but, uh, I just, I have to jump in. I have to do it."

And I decided that I would just take on the "Nature" category, 'cause it's really easy for me to think visually when it comes to nature stuff, as opposed to, like, the "Spiritual" one. Like, how do you make an icon for something for a feeling? But, anyway, that's another story.

Blog-Erika back again: Thank you to everyone who shared their best moment of the week with me in the last post. I read and re-read everyone's responses and it just never fails to amaze me how much joy it makes me feel to read other people's accounts of their own joyful moments. It's almost like joy is infectious? Being a person is so hard and I'm grateful I get to do it with people like you guys.
