COMIC: Space Camp: Day Three

Thanks for your understanding about that missing page! And, hey, if you have my phone number, hit me up and I'll share it with you-- it's just a subject that's a little too sensitive for me to go posting anywhere online, y'know? Ideally I'll get a publisher to pick up this project, and with the guidance of an editor I'll feel more confident about how to handle that page. It's not even a big deal? But the internet is insane and I'm doing my best not to give it anything that could be used as fuel against me. Again. /:)

Of course I was doing one of my periodic Daily Photo projects during this time and this is the picture I referenced for the fourth panel on page 34. For the visually pedantic, my outfit doesn't match my description on the first page because I took this picture on August 2nd while the day I'm writing about here took place on August 6th.

Revisiting my notes all these years later is such a gift.

On August 6th, 2019, I wrote about my collage,

"My piece showed cleaning hands trying to scrub out the loud thoughts in my brain- change. Needs a follow-up piece showing the loud thoughts having a place in my mind, cohabitating, not under attack and not interfering with the rest of my thoughts."

While just a few days ago on December 7th, 2021 -totally not thinking about that text from this chapter in any way- I completed my daily gratitude collage that illustrates the caption, "Grateful for Good Brain days"

It wasn't a Good Brain Day because I didn't have any bad thoughts. It was a Good Brain Day because I was cohabitating with my bad thoughts. They were there, because they always are, and I could acknowledge them and still carry on with the rest of my day and feel appreciation and joy for the rest of the elements of my life.

I just.

Man.

I'm doin' it.

IT IS RARELY EASY. IT TAKES WORK. I WISH I DIDN'T HAVE TO WORK SO HARD TO KEEP MY BRAIN FUNCTIONAL, IT FUCKING SUCKS.

But.

I can do it. I am doin' it.

Erika of 2019, you're gunna get there. Hang on, 'cos you're gunna get there.
