Sneak Peek: 2024's Indie Game Art Sticker Series!

Hey! Our awesome artists are finishing up this year's sticker series. Wanted to give ya'll a look at the work-in-progress.

These are "rough thumbnail sketches" -- they're an early step in our process. Final art will be in full color & look incredible. I've got a ton of finals already!

Here's a sneak peek at how we get art into your adorable little hands:

I work for big stupid corporations. You usually have to write the whole thing, then show it to someone, they they decide if they'll buy it. So you do a lot of full-on creating that never gets used.

To do the opposite, at TLP, artists send us simple text-only pitches. No sketches, no drawings, no art at all until we're on the same page. Because I hate wasting their time!

Berries N' Cream texted , "Slime Rancho" -- a fantastic idea that works in just two words! Mimi Yori texted, "Binding of Isaac (asterios is crying and rancha is one of his little helper things)." You listeners pitched tons of ideas, too -- 27 in all. In a future episode, we'll announce a list of winners + how to send us your address for prizes! 

Next step: they turn in rough thumbnail sketches + I give notes. This way our artists don't burn time drawing perfect masterpieces only to get stupid moron notes late in the process.

Finally, we give the greenlight for full production. This takes the most love and time, so when the final art is turned in, I try very hard to not give any more notes.

Think about it: if massive changes need to be made at the last stage, it's my goddamn fault, not the artist's. We went through pitches and roughs and only NOW there's a problem?! What kind of loser would these people be working with?!

But when the process is complete, you get stuff that looks like THIS:

Check the attention to detail in the upper right. The hamster's head is blurry because he's off in the distance. He's out of focus! Who thinks of stuff like that?!

At this point, you probably realize that I have no idea what Slime Rancher is. That's my favorite thing about comedy: you don't need to know. Who cares! The thing is funny or it isn't, and this thing is hilarious.

I want to thank Berries N Cream, Mimi Yori, Ari Grabb, Keeby & Goth Niko for their killer work. As soon as we have all 12 finals in hand, we'll go to print, and then mail them out in batches over the rest of the year.
