And now I'm off to France.

Dear Patrons,

It’s the season of travels once again. It was around this time last year that I returned from my study trip to Korea. Back then the goal was to up my level of animation, and I think that was certainly achieved although there’s still much to be done. This time around the journey goes to Valence France where I’ve been admitted to the La Poudriére "Animation TV Series Concept & Scriptwriting" course. It just became official this Friday, and I’m stoked for the opportunity to improve my story-telling skills, network and pitching. I’ll be starting April 16th and then be at it for 3 months before going off on an internship that hasn’t had the logistics determined yet.

I’ll try to keep you updated about what I learn and experience, but as I found out at ChungKang these experiences sometimes take away from my normal computer time – so if not immediate updates I’ll at least try to summarize my trip afterwards.

In terms of updates for the time being, this past month has been very much dedicated to my graduation project. It has taken a lot away from my normal Tales of Zale development time, but I thought it’d only by fair to put a bit more into it given that I’m leaving early for La Poudriére. The projects will first be released February next year, but I’ve attached a few sneak peaks and shots that I’m working on below. Do note that I’m only a small part of this project.

Since I’ve been writing a lot of applications this month, I also attached my La Poudriére application to represent this. I don’t know if any of you are at the early stages of sending applications off, but if you are (or if you’re just curious) here’s at least and example of a Cover Letter and Director’s Statement. It should also give a pretty clear picture of where I'm currently at.

Lastly I’ve been playing a little bit more around with livestreaming on Twitch. I got the idea to make a puppet using Adobe CC Character Animator and use that as my avatar while live. The cool thing about this program is that it takes input from your webcam and uses that to move the puppet around in different ways. I’ve still got some tweaking to do, but it worked pretty well for its first test run. So again, if you’re interested in that sort of thing and happen to have the software I’ve attached the puppet file for you to play around with.

I will leave it at that for now. As always, thank you for your support and have a great day.

- Sif
