June 2023 Monthly Update

Hello lovely patrons!

I hope you all had a great May. It was a busy month for us, progress wise, but we're getting further and further along with our development on all of our projects!

Anyway, on to the update:

The Sun and the Moon

We've finished our final checks on The Divine Speaker: The Sun and the Moon and the game is officially ready for release!

Dreambound

Writing

We've now COMPLETED our writing of Crow's good, bad and netural endings! We'll still probably tweak some things as we get further in the other two routes, but we're very happy with the finished product. We plan to work on a beta build of his route when we're a little further with writing on Ivan and Kaine's routes.

In other news, we also brought on an additional writer to help with cleaning up the outline and writing the first draft of Kaine's route. With the art catching up with Ivan's writing, we wanted to make sure we were ready to move straight over to Kaine's route CGs. We're quite picky with hiring writers, so we weren't sure if anyone would apply that we'd be happy with, but we were happily proven wrong!

Ebihime has already completed the Kaine route outline and gotten approval, and started on writing his scenes. We think the first draft will be complete by the end of the month, and then I will go through it personally to add in additional scenes and double check the characters.

This is an unedited first draft of a scene between Noah and Kaine - however, as you can see, Ebihime has already grasped the tone of the game very well!

Physical Merch

18.5kgs of wallscrolls and dakimakura recently arrived on my doorstep (boy was that a huge and heavy box to carry through my house...). We're still waiting on the acrylic merch to get here, but we will begin shipping out packages this month to anyone that only bought a wallscroll/dakimakura during our Kickstarter.

Art

We have two CGs and one character sprite left to complete before the art for Ivan's route is 100% finished! We will still probably add a handful more CGs as we finish the writing, but we're close to being done with Ivan, which is exciting news.

After that, we will begin work on the Kaine route CGs, the last of the lot. We anticipate that the artwork for the game should be complete ahead of schedule if we continue at this rate.

We've been adding in extra BGs as we edit and write. There's something about new backgrounds that just makes me very happy, haha.

A Date with Death

Opening Animation

We showed off the WIP of A Date with Death's opening animation last month! It should be complete by the end of June, which we're very excited for. If you missed it, here's a teaser:

I really love how dramatic and cool it feels.

Writing

We're still finishing up the writing on day 5/7, but we used last month to brainstorm the CGs and the endings we wanted to include. With a more structured plan, we're ready to take on the ending!
