Yeah, I had a pretty good chuckle at the whole "If America dies, humanity dies" bit. The arrogance of this woman is unsurpassed! A bond of solidarity doesn`t count if you can`t opt out!

2019-11-25 10:44:06 +0000 UTCI'm beginning to think the story is a satire of how "connected" everyone is nowadays with facebook, phones, and electronics to the point where there's no privacy anymore. Just take a look at Sam's "private" room in which he has NO PRIVACY even when taking a shower. The "BB"s are an analogy to this overly-connected generation - fetuses in the womb get all of their sustenance from their mother via the placenta and umbilical cord. The BB's in this game are literally in synthesized wombs with an attached synthesized umbilical cord which connects directly to Sam's body. The end criticism, I think, that Kojima is making is that technology is creating its own kind of prison for people (see the handcuffs that function as communication devices among other things. Also, the womb in and of itself is a kind of prison. Yet, if the baby escapes from it prematurely it'll likely die). The irony of being so connected is that people are still alone - the desolate landscape of this game which Sam traverses alone, speaking to holograms of people etc etc....
