Yeah he and Geniro made you either get better or just fucking quit. Owl was just in your face whereas isshin just kind of skilked around in the grass. It's funny that what gives some people trouble other people find trivial.

Yeah, I haven’t done that ending yet, but I’ve heard he’s at least as bad as Isshin

I thought Isshin was a bit of a let down. Owl father though, that boss made me weep.

Seeing this reminds me that Gehrman is probably my favorite "final boss" in the Souls series. It's not the most difficult, but there's a lot of emotional depth, with even the music conveying that unspoken history that From specializes in, giving you a sense of Gehrman's tragic destiny. Plus it's just extremely stylish - Bloodborne may not be Throthgar's favorite, but I still consider it the most badass From game. Isshin Ashina is probably the most difficult From final boss, but I'm not sure Sekiro gives you as much of a connection with him as Bloodborne does with Gehrman, which makes it a less impactful encounter overall. On another note, I know Throthgar likes the original Dark Souls more than Bloodborne, but the ending of that is every bit as short and confusing until you know the lore, so hopefully that's not one of the reasons why it's better.
