Like certain boss souls are dropped in order to give hints at lore... types of armor, etc. It is really for those that are invested in the lore and a bit more of a challenge. Such as returning to the throne room in Drangleic Castle and battling 2 pursuers at once. That was fun, and has good drops. But it is really only worthwhile if you're an invested fan.
