I did drop the iTunes comment in there partly because the main question was somewhat morbid and I thought it would be fun to bring movies into the conversation. From what I’ve read, there is no permitted mechanism to leave your digital content to anyone if you die. As mentioned in the podcast, companies like Apple and Google have mechanisms for granting access to a nominated person, however this excludes the potentially very costly digital library of content. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212360 “Certain information, like movies, music, books, or subscriptions you purchased with your Apple ID, and data stored in your Keychain—like payment information, passwords, and passkeys—can’t be accessed by your Legacy Contact. ” The only way around this would be for the people you leave behind to never tell the company and to simply access your account directly. However, that would almost certainly be violating the terms of use! In my view this just highlights the tenuous applicability of the word “purchase” when it comes to digital goods, where the purchase is actually for a license which has severe limitations. Ignoring monetary value, your movie collection is in some ways a part of your identity and an encapsulation of your tastes, and it is disappointing that it is meant to simply disappear after your death
