2023-11-15 00:03:08 +0000 UTCI love this episode, the only thing that doesnโt work for me itโs the scene in the bronze with willow and Amy which goes on way too long, everything else I adore. Buffy and spike relationship is fascinating, they are so horrible to each other, clearly itโs toxic, pointing out the obvious, but seeing it portrayed like this, by two characters I care about, being so abusive and toxic to each other, itโs so raw but so interesting, and I do want them to be together, just not like that. It just gives me so many conflicting emotions, and thatโs the brilliance of the show I think. But still, itโs pretty realistic from the character pov and where theyโre at right now in the show, it makes sense that this would be the way they relate to one another. First of all, spike has no conscience, so we really shouldnโt be expecting any less, and buffy after everything sheโs been through, she is taking it out on him because he allows her to do it. At the end of the day, even though sheโs the one who keeps rejecting him and heโs the one pursuing her, sheโs also the one who seeks him out and initiates things, like when they kissed in the musical episode or in this instance, or, as weโre left to assume, last episode.
